The Team
Argyris Zymnis (@azymnis) came to the US for grad school after getting his Electrical Engineering degree at Cambridge. He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He DJ’s at the local Stanford radio station, playing music that sounds suspiciously like a blender on “ice crush.” He’s also got the distinction of being born the farthest away from highway 101.
Matthew McEachen (@matthewmceachen) is passionate about making software that transforms hard things into something simple and doable. His 15 years of high-tech experience in Silicon Valley spans the gamut from small startup companies to major banks. His first paying software gig was when he was 13. He’s managed software teams, been the technical lead for advertising products at a couple companies, and has several patents under his belt. Of all the grokkers, he’s the least likely to say the word “juicy.”
Before AdGrok, Antonio Garcia-Martinez (@antoniogm) was a research scientist at a Bay Area digital marketing agency, writing bidding algorithms for online advertising exchanges. Prior to marketing, he was a pricing quant on Goldman Sachs’ credit and equity trading floors, modeling credit-default swaps and various other weapons of financial destruction. He arrived on Wall Street as a young, naive physics Ph.D. student, and regrets the day he ever read Liar’s Poker. When not grokking, he tries to play squash and sail his 26-foot sloop Moksha. Antonio now works at Facebook.
The Advisors
AdGrok is a Y Combinator-backed startup.
Really — we just can’t say enough good things about this program and the entrepreneurial community surrounding it.
